Trawsallt Walk
Route #11
|
Trawsallt is a hill-top with a shelter cairn, about 5 miles south-east
of Blaen-y-ddôl, with wonderful views over the Ystwyth and Teifi valleys.
The route starts out up our valley to Pontrhydygroes, then climbs through
sheep pastures with good views over the site of Hafod mansion, before
entering Bwlchgwallter forest, where a short detour can be made to see
the largest beech tree in the British Isles. Tracks lead up through the
forest, with panoramic views opening out higher up. We then leave the
forest for the final climb to Trawsallt cairn. The return is on a delightful
gradual downhill track through open country to Ysbyty Ystwyth, then a
woodland path to finish.
