Carnyrhyrddod (594m/1942') is a cairned hill standing high on the main east-west watershed of the Cambrian Mountains, two miles south of Cwmystwyth. A small cairn topped with white quartz stands amidst a sprawling ancient cairn. It is visited by Hillscape Walking Holidays Bryn Dafydd Walk.
We start looking south-east to the top end of Claerwen reservoir, with Drygarn Fawr on the skyline to its right. On the skyline to the right of Drygarn can be seen in order: the Brecon Beacons: (Cribyn, Pen-y-fan and Corn Du), Fan Fawr, Fan Nedd, Fan Gihirych and the Carmarthen Fan or Black Mountain. Immediately below the Black Mountain are four of the Teifi pools. Right again is a grassy hill with a cairn, Lan-du Fawr, which has a trig pillar, but is 1 metre lower than Carnyrhyrddod. Further round, above a small pond, is Trawsallt hill. As the stones of Carnyrhyrddod cairn come into view, Bardsey island and the Llyn peninsula are visible on the horizon, whilst above the right-hand stones is Cader Idris. Right again, and nearer, is Pumlumon, and then the wind turbines of Cefn Croes. The next large lakes are Fyrddon Fawr and Fyrddon Fach; on the skyline between them is Radnor Forest. Llyn y Figyn is just visible above the right end of Llyn Fyrddon Fawr, and Llyn Du above Llyn Fyrddon Fach, making a total of eleven lakes and ponds in this panorama.
