Hillscape walking holidays are based just south of Devil's Bridge, and
was set up in 1984 to give walkers the chance to enjoy the best parts of
Mid Wales at their own pace.
Hillscape lays at your feet a huge area of varied countryside, the
beauty of which rivals that of any of the British National Parks. Yet
the Cambrian Mountains
do not suffer from the visitor pressure and erosion which tend now to
afflict many popular walking areas of the UK.
Hillscape caters for those who feel that large groups detract from the
quietness of the hills, and who prefer to explore on their own. We
provide maps and our own exclusive directions for 40 routes, ranging
from 5 to 20 miles in length. All our walks are checked at least once a
year, and with regular feedback from our guests, you can be sure that
the route descriptions will be accurate, up-to-date, and easy to follow.
Most of the trails are circular, and over a quarter start straight from
the garden. Our guest house may be isolated from roads, but it is very
well connected to the footpath network. This means you can enjoy a wide
choice of routes, with little road walking or repetition, even if you
arrive by public transport, or prefer not to use your car again once you
have arrived. All the advantages of variety, discovery and achievement,
with none of the hassle of having to move on to new accommodation every
night!
Several trails are suitable for those with little previous experience
of hill walking or map reading, and we are always on hand
to help you decide on the most suitable walk.
Whatever your fitness and level of experience, you will find that we
have plenty of choice of walks to suit you. Have a look at our Walk
Finder, where you can enter your preferences for length of walk,
navigational difficulty and scenery, and get an instant list of the
walks which are likely to appeal to you.
Our three-star guest house can accommodate up to 6 guests, and all
rooms have: central heating; ensuite facilities; radios; and hospitality
trays, and wonderful views of the Ystwyth valley, famed for its red
kites, and the surrounding hills. Hillscape Walking Holidays are based
halfway between the spectacular Ceredigion Heritage Coast on Cardigan
Bay and the impressive and little-known Plynlimon mountains - the
highest point in Mid Wales with impressive views over the whole of Wales
from Snowdonia in the north to the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains in
the south.
