Mountains of Mid Wales
Walking the 2000 foot summits

Munro-baggers are well-known in Scotland: they are people who have an ambition to climb every one of the 3000 foot summits of Scotland. There are over 270 Munros, and though climbing them all has been achieved in a single expedition, most prefer to savour the accomplishment over the course of many years.

For those who want a more accessible and less energetic target, there are hundreds of 2000 foot mountains in Wales and England. There are several "lists", and the exact number of summits included varies depending on the criteria used for each list.

Most of the Welsh 2000 foot summits are in Snowdonia, and the Brecon Beacons National Park also boasts a good number. But Mid Wales makes an interesting contribution, in the form of Plynlimon (Pumlumon), Pen y Garn, Drygarn and Gorllwyn, and Radnor Forest.
